"Mew" is a state of mind and heart

I'm done!

Chiyo Penguin
Okay, give me a silly prompt, you're going to get exactly what you asked for. ♥

Why, yes, I needed something silly...Collapse )

April 28th, 2007

Okay, since we have more "Yes" votes than "No":

Our theme this time is "acorn tutu." (I think this one was my fault. Yes, it's strange. ^^;; Sorry!)

We have until May 12 to come up with something creative that's at least *vaguely* related to / inspired by this phrase.

((If it's too difficult to work with, you can instead create something maligning your community moderator for being such a weirdo.))

Opinion Poll

and I meow meow meow
So I want to put another challenge here before I let it slide any further - does everyone think May 12 would be a reasonable deadline? [Y/N]

Comment with your vote, please! (Yeah, no paid journal, no poll. My apologies for lack of ticky-boxes. XD)

I have an off-topic question to ask...and I thought, who else better to ask than cat owners?

Cut for no real reason...Collapse )

Sorry, that was totally off-topic. If nothing else, I hope you found the image of a pair of green eyes glowing up from the toliet bowl to be amusing. XD

January 23rd, 2007

So, according to my computer clock, I still have time.

This is from a larger original work of mine that's In Progress called The Secret of Birch Creek. I'm not quite sure where this will go at the moment.

Title: Eyes
Characters: Jaime, Savannah
Word Count: 412 words
Summary: Savannah always had an interesting way of giving gifts.

EyesCollapse )

Comments and criticisms appreciated! ♥

...I ficced. >,> Excuse me.

Prompt: "Starlight Distortion"
Length: 734 words
Genre: Bleach fanfic
Characters: Ishida Uryuu, Kurosaki Ichigo
Rating/Warnings: PG for spirit violence? (Hey, they're fighting Hollows here.)

a rather random sceneCollapse )

Unbeta'd; my apologies if it sucks. At least I didn't squeak in right before the deadline this time? ^^;;

January 2nd, 2007

And who's up for the next challenge theme?! With the holidays (and NaNoWriMo *cough*) over, I thought it was high time to start this up again, with our second random word prompt. And the words are:

Starlight distortion

(Sorry, I don't have the list of who suggested which words handy, so I can't tell you all who to blame this round on! ~_^ )

Deadline for results this time is January 23 (3 weeks from today) - and as ever, if you have something ready to post before then, feel free to do so! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

The Mews may be at a convention, but we'd never miss the opportunity to wish Catt a very, very Happy Birthday.

We only wish we could be there to celebrate it with you (or alternately, that you were here).

Your Mewes!

The haiku: a poem
about nature, syllables
five, seven and five.

That's traditional.
In modern haiku, nature
shares the subject line

or leaves in favor
of cats, computers, stars, cars;
it's anything goes.

These aren't very good
as examples. The challenge
is to write your own.

Don't hurry, worry's
not part of this game. Rather,
post at any time.

I am waiting for my ladycat to come home. I'm dressed up and we're going out.

I almost have all the blood out of my hair, and I got it to curl again. The stubble? Hardly shows.

I have a head full of staples and a heart full of love. Nothing will ever split us up.

Years ago, I promised my Rissicat I would be with her "this lifetime and all lifetimes to come." And I love living my life with her, watching it happen, knowing it will keep happening.

Faith this strong has been part of my life since I was young, but it was never so real until I met her. Heck, now I have proof positive that even brain surgery can't stop us!

I wanted to walk out and get roses, since I'm not allowed to drive. I saved my energy instead, for a beautiful evening out.

This is just a ramble, but it's a ramble full of love and life and joy that I would never known had I not met her.

I am waiting for my ladycat to come home... and she's here in my heart already.

I love you, my darling!
Looks at the calendar... "squeeeeees" and dances around like the happiest kitty ever.

Love and tail-snarks to my lovely (if a bit battered!) G-cat. Best Friend. Co-conspirator. PFL - (Partner for life).

Today marks 25 years of knowing you, playing with you, bitching at you, cuddling you, giving to you, taking from you, and all-around adoring you. It still feels like we started only yesterday, even after all this time....

I love you so much. You're the person I'll always gravitate to, always need... like a flower turns to follow the sun. Thank you for more happiness than I ever thought existed. Than I ever thought could exist.

Now and always,
Your Rissi

(Who, me? Excited?)

Anyway - now that we're all re-connected to the virtual world, I'd better post my challenge results...Collapse )

Runs away.

September 5th, 2006

So early on Labor Day, the physical House of Mews discovered - our cable Internet had crapped out on us. G-Cat called our provider, who told us, "Nobody else in your neighborhood is having that kind of packet loss - it's probably your cable modem going bad."

So we ran out to Best Buy and dropped the bucks for a brand-new cable modem, hooked in place and called them back. Only to have them tell us that the new modem had an invalid MAC address, and without that they couldn't make their system see us. But at any rate, it's entirely possible that the real problem was the cable outside the house and we didn't need that new modem after all. >,0 (Good thing they said it was returnable up to 30 days.)

We have a service call in; they think they can get around to us on Thursday. I'm going to take the scans for my and Rissi's entries and try to upload them from work tomorrow if I can. *headdesk* Otherwise, we will post as soon as we have Internet service from home again.

...right, leaving the Panera parking lot now before the Security car chases us out. XD

All right, Mews!

We only got five batches of word-prompts total (including mine), and from it I have randomly selected our first challenge:

"Unusual Perched Koi" [courtesy of mewsrissicat]

So! We have two weeks to produce 500 words of fiction (minimum, you can do more if you wish) or one fairly detailed sketch/stamp art/3-D creation. This does *not* have to be a full finished work of art; sketch/rough draft form is acceptable - after all, the point of this is to get all of our creative juices flowing.

First challenge's due date is September 4, 2006. If you get inspired and finish before then, great! Go ahead and post it, and you can pass the inspiration along to the rest of us. ^^

(And if you want to contribute your words or phrases for future inspiration, e-mail them to me! *poke poke*)

August 15th, 2006

reminder, blee, note to self
Any Mew who wants her prompt-words eligible to be chosen for the first challenge round, get them in to me by midnight of August 16! ...so far, only four people have sent theirs in.... *pokes the rest of you*

The e-mail address to send them to is in my last post - you'll see it if you're signed in. XD

July 26th, 2006

It has been brought to my attention that several of our members have been in something of a creative slump lately (yours truly included). And then I thought, hey! This community could - should - be for *encouraging* writers and artists, not just collecting them. ♥

So what I'd like, is suggestions for a creative challenge for Mews. What would be fair, considering that we work in a variety of mediums? (X) number of words in a week versus (X) number of rough sketches? A combination of both? And is there anyone in the House currently working on textile or 3-D endeavors, and how could we best include them if so?

Talk to me, kittens!
